In 1988, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency authorized NSF - The National Sanitation Foundation to develop a third party national certification program
for all direct and indirect drinking water additives. Standard 60 and 61 were established to establish minimum requirements for the control of potential adverse human health effects from products
added directly to water for its treatment, and indirectly to water via contact with treatment, storage, transmission, and distribution system components.
In 1989, SPER Chemical became one of the very first companies to receive an official Standard 60 Listing. To
